Autoplay automatically on on device even when switched off in spotify

Since a few days, it appears that autoplay is automatically switched on when playing spotify songs on any of my bluesound devices, such that after an album has finished spotify continues playing similar songs. I have this option always switched off so that if I forget to switch of the music, it doesn't keep playing when I'm gone. That worked fine, and still works fine when playing on my phone and computer. However, the "playback" settings are grey and not "changeable" when playing from my bluesounds devices and no matter what I try, after an album has finished a new similar song will start playing.
Looking at the forum I noticed that one year ago the opposite seemed to be the problem:
So maybe the "fix" for this has caused a new problem?

The issue you cited was resolved at Spotify's end. Bluesound and BluOS Enabled Players are Spotify endpoint solutions meaning they play what the Spotify App tells them to. Unfortunately, this means you will have to contact Spotify for assistance if it is a bug or a reversal of functionality.
