Vault usb
Answered-
Please explain in more detail…
What model Vault? Does the drive have music files on it? What format is the drive in? Does it have an external PSU? We’re you intending to back up the Vault to it?

Hi its the vault 2. The external hdd is the wd passport which already has some songs in it and is usb powered.
I was planning to play some songs also maybe do some backup but reckon that it has to be done through pc as there are alr songs in it.

Hi Marc,
With an external USB drive plugged into a Vault you can either use it for music tracks OR backing up the Vault but not do both on the same drive. On the initial backup the drive is formatted into a Unix format that cannot be easily read on a PC / Mac, so make sure if you do this there are no important files / tracks on the drive. The backup drive has to be as large as the Vaults internal drive (2TB).
When you plug a USB memory stick or drive into the Vault it should appear in the Sources section of the Bluesound App. Perhaps you have a USB memory stick you can try as test?

I had previously used the same hdd and had no issues, but now when plugged in, it didn't run and didn't appear in the sources

As I say, test with a USB memory stick, you may want to power off the Vault for five minutes as well.

Prob will try that... I forgot how to power off the vault lol

Literally just pull the power lead / switch at the socket.

No it doesn't. No response at all

In the Bluesound App select Help…Send Support Request for Bluesound to have a look at the logs.
