Hi Shawn, you’re not missing anything. Spotify on Bluesound uses Spotify Connect and that means using the Spotify App for music control. With Tidal you can either use the native app or the Bluesound integration.

OK.....that is unfortunate.  I was hoping that I could upgrade my system from sonos (which clearly the powernode does) but management of my content (spotify/FLAC and MP3 files/tidal/other) is critical to me.  Anyone have any thoughts??  Roon maybe?  Just trying to consolidate my various listening sources if possible (which sonos does, kinda).

Personally Spotify does not get any love from me as they still stream in less than CD quality and I get fatigued very quickly. There are multiple tools available that let you export playlist and move them to other streaming services so you could move to another service and then use the integration in the Bluesound app.

Roon is great (trialled it a few times) and yes it gets Tidal, Qobuz and you local library all in one app and seamless, it’s does however cost in terms of hardware and a software license.

The other consideration is that you cannot set a Spotify playlist or artist as a preset because of it using the Spotify Connect feature. This is unfortunate especially with the Bluesound speakers that have preset buttons.
