bass management with optical or coax out?

I just love using the bass management feature with the high/low pass filters.   It helped my system quite a bit!   The only problem  is I enjoy my Rotel preamp/dac more then the dac on the Bluesound.   Im just assuming the filters only work when you are using analog out on the Bluesound.   Is this the case or can optical and coax out also cut the low frequencies out or does all sound just go through?    any help would be much appreciated.

  Bass management is only on analog out. Digital out is always full range. Bass management is then handled by the downstream DAC.
