Creating your own streaming service

Would it be possible to create your streaming service? Say you'd have a public collection of music, can I create and publish one?

  Thanks for sharing your experience. I don't know much about icecast but I would like to implement a search feature for tracks but I don't know if that is supported.

  The collection I have in mind is based on a set of mp3's.

  You can setup an audio stream with AWS Elemental, although that may be an overkill if you're just experimenting.

  You can also set this up on a budget using FFmpeg to encode a stream and Nginx to serve it.
