    Hi Glen

As your POWERNODE is DOLBY Certified and supports Dolby Digital you will notice a 6 to 12 DB volume drop when playing DOLBY content. This is due to the larger ranges of volume changes in DOLBY content as DOLBY audio is mixed on average 6 to 12 DB quieter than other non-Dolby content.

    This is not unexpected...

It is unexpected, at least by me that the Powernode is basically useless for use with TV / films, since the maximum volume is too low. The built in TV speakers go louder and my Sonos sound bar goes *much* louder with the same Dolby digital encoded content.

It's not that my speakers are very insensitive either, since with music the Powernode & speaker combination will go considerably louder than I would ever listen.

Seems like something in the HDMI implementation is just wrong to me.

It also means if you switch from TV (at a normal listening volume) to music there is a massive leap in volume that terrifies children and pets!

Hi Glen Harding, my name is Daniel Arques. I have the same powernode 2i, connected to my Samsung UHD by hdmi and I have the same problem. TV at max volume level, the sound is pretty low. Did you get any response from BS??? Thanks in advance!!!

    Hi Daniel,
Unfortunately I've not had any response other than the one above from Tony W, suggesting that this is "normal" function.
It's very disappointing, as I don't experience the same problem with other audio equipment connected by HDMI ARC. I also own KEF and Sonos speakers, and they both work without this big discrepancy in volume between music and TV sources.

    Regards,
    Glen.

Hi Glen!!!! Thanks a lot for your answer!!!!! As you I'm pretty disapointed with this issue....You know...i a big fan of Sonos!!!!! I bought six years ago a Sonos Five.....what a great decission!!!! I'm super happy with the sound of the Sonos five. I chose Bluesound  powernode 2i instead of Sonos because  BS has mqa capabilities.....but at the end of the day mqa is not worthy enough if i can not listen popperly the tv set!! Glen i'd like to keep in touch with you to get some information about the Sonos bar you have...is that the Sonos Arc??? because i'm really interested in buying one but i'd like to have some reference....if you agree, heres my facebook profile https://www.facebook.com/cbapollo/ please add me as your friend and i'll give my whatapp to be in touch... Thanks a lot!!! Take care, many regards, Daniel

It’s about time this got fixed. Love the sound of music on my Lyngdorf amp via usb.
Same goes for hdmi video playing from my nvidia tv.
If I use the nvidia via usb to my amp the volume is good and matched on nearly everything. Only Disney has a slight drop in volume.
But when I use the hdmi arc to carry the sound from the nvidia I have to turn it up so much that I dare not play music. I can’t trim this out in the amp as it’s all coming from one source USB. I can’t trim it out in the nvidia.
The nvidia is capable of outputting similar volumes via usb across tv apps and Deezer.
    The node (latest model) cannot.
    Fix this.
