Try powering off the Node for at least five minutes and see if that helps. You don’t say what output you are using but if you are using a DAC it would be worthwhile powering that off as well for a while.

Hi Seppi.  Thank you for the reply.  My 2i is connected to my network and a Roon core NAS using Ehternet and I am using the 2i rca outputs to my prepro.  After reading different forums, folks have said a factory reset of the 2i has corrected their issue.  I did try a power cycle of all my gear but for only about one minute.  I'll give the five minutes a try before trying the factory reset. Thanks again!

Yes… I have also read that on Reddit I think? Clicks and static can occur with external DACs but that does not apply as you are using the analogue outputs.

My issue has been resolved with a factory reset, but I also turned off 'auto clock trim' which I do not recall ever seeing before.  Wish I had noticed the auto clock trim before I did the factory reset, it would have been nice to know if that was the real cause of my issue because factory reset is a pain when it comes to reconfiguring the 2i like it is new out of the box.  Since the 2i is my Roon endpoint, I figure Roon is supposed to control the clocking.  Thanks for the help!

Clock trim can help with issues of unwanted noises but only if using an external DAC.

Thank you for the information, that makes me feel better knowing the factory reset wasn't for nothing.
