    Hi Thom

We have seen this issue when using some brands of an External DAC dating back to the original NODE released in late December of 2012 and not unique to the new NODE (N130). It is caused downstream by the external DAC not handling a change in file resolution (say a 16/44 track immediately followed by a high res one). It is not something that can be solved in BluOS but must be handled by your DAC settings.

You can try disabling Audio Clock Trim in the Player Settings - but that may not help. Please contact your External DAC manufacturer.

    Hi Tony.

I don't use any external DAC at this moment. I only use the analog output of the Node towards my amplifier.

I have also had clicking sounds on my new NODE (N130) occasionally. No external DAC and analog output to Marantz AV7702 mkii.

I also have had the timeline advance at 5 second increments or not advance at all (lose control) of the NODE’s Tidal Connect while using the Tidal native player on an iPad Pro 10.5 iPadOS 14.6. This occurs inconsistently.

I'm experiencing the same issue with my Node (N130), no external DAC, and my PowerNode (N330).  I have a case open, 240726, and provided extensive troubleshooting and videos to assist the team.

Are there any updates on this issue and when do you expect a resolution?

I heard back from support and they commented that:

After speaking with our engineering team regarding your specific issue they have been able to replicate it here in our labs. Our engineering team will be looking into this further and be providing a fix for this issue in a future firmware update.

No commitments on the timeline so please make comments if you are experiencing the same issue and Follow this thread to help get the issue prioritized with engineering.

I am having the same issue. Bought new BS Node (n130) on september 17th 2021. It's DAC is directly connected to NAD C298. Plopping noise when changing between tracks and/or musicapps in the Bluos app. @support1.bluesound.com: any remedy available?

i bought a node n130 on 20.sept 2021 and it have the clicking noise
    when switching between sources
and when tracks shift bitrate between 24 and 16 and from 16 to 24 both on roon/qobuz and qobuz on the node alone /and on tunein radio and the analogue input when playback is resumed
i am only using the internal dac and phono rca l/r out to my poweramp

    Any workaround for this issue?

Not that I have found.  The Blue Sound team has told me that they can duplicate it and have the problem isolated.  They did not commit to a timeline on when they would have this resolved. I’ve also noticed this same behavior with Tidal connect when tracks change bit-rate.

@Tony W. - Any updates on this issue?

    Hello
I've purchased my NODE 130 yesterday and I have the "clicking between tracks" issue.
My NODE is connected to the external DAC via the optical output and I'm using fixed volume setting.
    Thanks
    Vlada

Still not fixed - bought 2 Node N130 yesterday. I only use the N130 no external DAC converters or the like.

I also have an “old” Node 2i that does not have the problem.

When will there be a firmware update that fixes the problem?

Bluesound has acknowledged the problem//issue more than a year ago. So…..!?!?

I've got an answer from the Product support that they "could replicate the issue" and they "are working on the solution", but "there's no timeline at the moment".
Looks to me like a sort of a default answer...

This issues has been occurring on both the N130 (internal DAC used) and my three N330 since I purchased them in 09/2021.  This issue got worse with update 3.20.49, now on 3.20.52.

I provided videos to support.  The first track is a 96/24, the second 44.1/16 and the third 192/24.  Every time the track needs to change its bit rate format, there is a series of clicks.  I will also note if the tracks are in the same bitrate format such as, track one 96/24, track two 96/24, etc..  the clicks are not present.  See attached video showing the issue. This also happens with Apple Music via Airplay when the track bitrate changes.

This is been occurring for over two years, and engineering can duplicate the issue.  I would think this would be prioritized being that this is considered a high end streamer and all the press these units get.  When will there be a fix for this?

Are there any updates on when or if this issue will be resolved?

Hi, I have te same issue, Nad 3050LE, bump noise on subwoofer output when sampling rate changes. It happens with Mdc Bluos card and even wit external toslink source.

Don't know if it's a Nad or Bluos issue but the same external source (WiiM mini) connected to a SMSL DO100, doesn't make any noise under same circumstances.

It's little bit annoying during playlists, is there any chance to workaround?

The same issue in my bluesound node N130.it's hightly disappointing.

Perhaps a button fixing in 44.1 khz ?

Should we presume that this little quirk, will never be fixed?

Speaking with Nad support, they replicate the problem but can't say when (or maybe if) will be fixed.

The click noise you hear is the buffer clearing when resolutions change. The NODE is just one piece of this audio chain. Software circuit muting was added in BluOS 3.20.45 in the spring of 2023 to better mask this clicking but can still be heard if the content was not encoded with proper spacing or what vinyl enthusiasts refer to as black holes. This is why gapless playback became a requirement in the early days of digital playback. Also, be aware of the sensitivity and impedance of your speakers and ensure the content meets proper encoding or 'Red Book CD' standards for spacing (but not necessarily bit depth).

All that being said, we continue to try and make as many efforts to mask this as much as possible.

Thank you. Hoping it will fixed in the future, I have to specify that, at least with my C3050LE, noise comes on subwoofer output only. If I disable it, running full bandwidth on speakers, no noise is emitted at any sample rate change.

Our good friends down the hall at NAD Electronics are aware of this and it is something slightly different. They are chasing it on the C3050 and older C658. The part that makes it different is it doesn't happen on full range...
