Vault - High Pitched continuous whistle

Can anyone help?
I have a Vault which has a continuous high pitched whistle. Any ideas on how I get rid of it, the noise that is.
Getting to the point where the noise is driving me mad!

Hardly HiFi.

  Power off and try the Fig 8 mains lead plugged in the other way.

  It may not be the cure but was the easiest thing to try first in the hope that it was on the mains power supply.
