is a digital input converted to analog and back to digital before sending on wifi?

I have a setup with a CD player digital output into the coax digital input of a HUB. Does the signal pass the internal HUB DAC when streaming over wifi or not? in other words:

When I stream over Wifi to a node, does the signal go: 

1) digital CD out -> digital HUB in -> digital WiFi -> Node DAC -> speakers

2) digital CD out -> digital HUB in -> DAC in HUB -> ADC in HUB -> digital WiFI -> Node DAC -> speakers

  Hi Steven,
  
  When using the digital coaxial input on the HUB, the signal remains in the digital domain. It is not converted to analog and then back to digital before being transmitted to the NODE.

  In your example, the signal path would essentially be:

  Digital CD output >> Digital HUB input >> Network/Wi-Fi >> NODE DAC >> Analog output to your system

  I hope this helps clarify the signal path.
