Why is it not possible to use a (usb)drive attached to a PC/Laptop?

I tried to adress it with HTTP code but it will not connect

Network drive works fine.

  Whist I no longer go near Windows based machines, you would have to ensure that the USB drive has been shared and permission set to allow a remote connection. Windows itself is making local network sharing very difficult so you would be better off either using the USB drive attached directly to a Bluesound device or keeping your music on a NAS (network attached storage)
