How do I connect my spotify account to my node?

I've tried to add the service through the Blusound controller app and all it does is offer a button to install the spotify app (which is already installed) and pressing it just opens my spotify app. Nowhere do I see any option to play spotify through the node.
And I haven't found any documentation on how to set this up and I see nothing in the spotify app that looks like it can get the node to play my music WITHOUT phone involvement - ie using AirPlay is not acceptable.
How on do I set up to play music from spotify account through my node (and honestly, I am so tired of everything with Bluesound being so unbelievably difficult) and how do I ensure I do not require my phone in order to stream (I really don't understand why I cannot use the Bluesound controller app like I did with Tidal).

Quick update - I was able to set it up on my mac (basically there zero involvement with the blue sound controller app - in all my reading that was never made clear) but for some reason my phone app cannot see my node when it does discovery. My node is on a wired network, not my wifi network (open connectivity between them) but for some reason my osx mac on the wifi network was able to discover the node where as the iPhone iOS app could not.
After I added the device using Spotify on the mac, the Spotify phone app now sees the device.0 -
Mark T, I added a comment on that thread. Can you please confirm if playing spotify can or cannot be synchronized across multiple blusound devices?
