Using a preamplifer with bluesound network hub - any issues / problems
I have a Powernode in my basement storage room which connects to my family rm speakers - the house was wired this way. The layout of my family doesn't allow for powernode placement in the room without streaming speaker wires across a hardwood floor. I have other sources (CD player, turntable) which need to be in the family rm to physically change the media. I have used the bluesound hub to connect these devices and used the eARC port also for the TV. It's over Cat 5E so works as expected.
Here's my issue - my wife and family don't like using their phone to control the volume or switch inputs - they get confused which device is being used... My wife is always looking for a dial or button to change the volume or selecting an input - she doesn't want to use an app on her phone for this. I was thinking of adding a preamp like the Pro-ject Prebox S3 which has variable output, volume control, phono stage, eARC and connecting it to the analog input of the Bluesound hub. My family can change the inputs and volume with physical buttons, see which input is selected easily, use a remote control with it. Any thoughts before I shell out $$ for this? It adds an extra layer almost like connecting 2 preamps together but will make it easier for them to use.
