    Hi Dave

Our friends at NAD Electronics tell us this Tripp Lite USB Adapter is the official supported adapter you are looking for. If you have issues, please contact support@nadelectronics.com

    Hi Tony,

It's all a bit confusing......I have read from this webpage....

USB to ethernet adapter on NAD T758 v3 - Discussion (bluesound.com)

......that ASIX chipsets are supported by NAD.

Quote "BluOS supports these common chipsets in the USB to Ethernet adapter:
    • ASIX AX88xxx Based USB 2.0 Ethernet Adapters
    • ASIX AX88179/178A USB 3.0/2.0 to Gigabit Ethernet"

However, the TrippLite adapter I have tried and which was suggested by NAD, doesn't seem to work. When it is connected to a Windows 10 PC, the hardware checker utility I use reports that it has a Realtek chipset.

I would assume NAD must incorporate a driver for one or the other chipsets.

Is the network interface of the T758, either WiFi via USB or Ethernet via USB, down to NAD software or BluOS software?

I have sent a message to Sam at NAD support, but still awaiting a response.

I own the NAD T758 V3i and have connected ethernet to the BluOS module that is plugged in to the USB port on the rear of the receiver. There is an ethernet port on the end of the dongle. Do you have a different unit?

    Hi braino,

The USB hub I have has just 4 USB sockets on it but no ethernet port, so seems to be a different type.....strange!

Was the hub you are using supplied with the T758 or did you source it separately? Can you give me a model number for the hub and maybe send a picture? How does the T758 select between the ethernet connection and a wifi connection if you have a WiFi dongle attached?

I'd be interested to know what ethernet chipset your hub uses. Can you check that by connecting the hub to a Windows 10 PC?

Many thanks for any information you can send!

Yes this came in the box with the T758 v3i. Are you sure you have the v3i? Here are photos of the dongle. Sorry no Win 10 computer here to check on. Looks like it's this one:

    Hi braino,

Many thanks for the pictures. Yes, it is the V3i model.

Your picture has given me some key information. UGREEN use the ASIX chipset in their USB to Ethernet adapters and I have just confirmed the 20265 hub you have also uses the ASIX chipset.

    Many thanks again!

    Hi braino,

By the way, can I ask which country you are in? I'm in the UK.

I'm interested to know why NAD have supplied different hub versions.

Can I also ask roughly when did you get your T758?

    Many thanks,

    Best regards.

    Hi Dave

The part may vary not by location but by manufacturing run - as mentioned, please contact support@nadelectronics.com to troubleshoot

    Hi Tony,

I sent some emails to support@nadelectronics.com on Monday, but have yet to receive any acknowledgement or reply. Are they open and working?

I'm in Canada. Bought the 758 v3i in late October 2020.

Interesting, we bought ours at about the same time!

Therefore very strange why some T758s supplied with ethernet enabled hubs and some without!

I'm still awaiting a response from NAD.

    Hi braino,

So, I purchased one of the UGREEN ethernet/usb hubs as you suggested, and hey presto, it works!

I am now asking NAD why they kept giving me wrong information about adapters and suggesting use of adapters based on the RealTek chipset such as TrippLite, when the current driver in the T758 is apparently for the ASIX chipset.

Anyway, many thanks for your info, you have saved the day!

    Best regards,

    Dave.

MODERATOR'S NOTE: Merged from another thread...

For anyone who might be interested, this is a solution to get recent models of the NAD T758 v3i connected to a network via ethernet cable.

NAD's suggestion was a TrippLite U236000R USB to Ethernet adapter. I purchased one, plugged it into the hub but nothing happened. The status was still Link Down.

Our UK dealer, Sevenoaks S & V, contacted NAD Support (somewhere) and suggested a Cable Matters model 202023 adapter. I received one of these, plugged it in but again, nothing happened. The status was still Link Down.

I then followed the advice of a Canadian customer who suggested the UGREEN USB 3.0 Hub Ethernet Adapter Splitter. I purchased one of these, plugged it in and HEY PRESTO, it worked immediately and connected to my network with an IP address.

It might be worth noting that the UGREEN USB/Ethernet Hub uses the ASIX chipset.

The Tripplite and the Cable Matters adapters both use the RealTek chipset.

It would appear that NAD T758 v3i products sold in recent months both in Canada and the UK have the ASIX driver built in and NOT the RealTek driver.

I look forward to further explanation from NAD/Bluesound........Sam / Tony?

    Hi Dave

Needless to say, we are updating our Support Documentation internally and are investigating with our friends at NAD QA. Long story short, glad to hear you are up and running.

I want to thank you guys for this information.
I tried it a few time to try and find a way to connect via ethernet.
But that was before the ugreen came out with the right chipset to make it work.
Is the difference noticable between wireless / cable?
The signalstrenght what i have now on wireless is on the blue colour symbol with a Excellent signal strenght of -40dBm.
So im curious about that difference between wireless/ethernet connection.
So i would like to hear what your experiences are about this.
    Thanks alot guys!

Following the discussion on this page, I bought UGREEN hub model 20265 with the ASIX chipset.

    lsusb:

    ASIX Electronics Corporation AX88179A

It does NOT work with the latest bluos version 4.0.2 on NAD 758 v3i.

    Hello Karolis,

Our NAD 758 v3i with BluOS 4.0.2 firmware does still work with the UGREEN hub!

You maybe have some other problem....

    Hi Dave,

I connected the UGREEN hub to the NAD receiver. A blue LED went on on the hub. The wifi and bluetooth dongles seem to work no problem. So at least the receiver is recognising the hub.

Then I connected an ethernet cable from the hub to my network switch, but no leds came up on the switch. I also tried another switch port and another cable (unpacked a new one), same problem.

Then I connected the same UGREEN hub to my laptop and had ethernet connection immediately.

Any ideas what could be the problem?

    Thanks for the link Bjørn.

The funny thing is that my UGREEN hub actually works for upgrading BluOS! If I invoke manual upgrade process in the menu, the hub ethernet led lights up and everything works like charm.

After the upgrade is finished.... ethernet dead.

    Hi All

    As stated much earlier in this thread many years ago;

The part may vary not by location but by manufacturing run - as mentioned, please contact support@nadelectronics.com to troubleshoot

There are in fact regional variants. Our good friends at NAD are investigating why it worked before but not currently. If your UGreen Model number has an A at the end of it, it will not work. You will be required to use a wireless connection by connecting the wifif adapter directly to the USB port on the MDC Card.
