External DAC is clicking
AnsweredHi guys, I have recently added a Node2i to my system. My Accuphase DP500 acts as external DAC, I am using the digital coax connection. It occurred to me that my DAC makes very annoying clicking sounds when streaming music. How do I fix this? I have tried to find the answer online, already switched off the MQA functionality as well as the audio clock trimming, this did not resolve the problem yet. Tidal and Spotify are the sources. thanks for you help!

Hi Bart, is the clicking related to the signal level? If so, you could trying switching the Node 2i from fixed to variable output and reducing the output to ~75% to see whether this has any effect.

Hi Mark, thanks for your reply. I have tried several settings, none appeared to have an influence on the clicking. Initially I thought I had tackled the issue by switching on the manual tone adaption. After a while I heard the clicking again.

Hello Bart,
Do you also get this clicking when connecting the NODE to your Accuphase via RCA or Optical (if applicable)? And can you hear it over the Headphone Output of the NODE?

I am using BlueOS btw, I forgot to mention that. Lowering the output to 75% did not resolve the problem either.

Hi Sam, thanks for your reply. I need to check the headphone output, good point!
Both optical en coax connection have the same result.

Hi all, after I had tried the headphone output (which sounded good, no hiccups whatsoever) I wanted to test the digital outputs once again with different cables. Borrowed an optical cable from a friend and guess what: no more clicking! I cannot believe I had used cables (Monster, I have to admit) that were clearly not operating properly.
Problem resolved!
