No 5.1 sound from soundbar+sub+é flex (all 2i)
AnsweredHi,
My installation: a playbar 2i + flex2i + sub 2i. My Pana plasma TV was too old to give 5.1 DD from ARC output. So I bought a switch (Feintech VSW04202 HDMI 2.0 ) with optical output and dedicated sound HDMI output.
Routing: Sources (blu ray player, nvidia box...) -> HDMI input feintech -> output A hdmi arc to the TV / and output B hdmi (audio only, black vidéo) to the soundbar hdmi input. I tried the optical SPDIF too.
I tried every settings in the Bluesound app. I selected Dody Digital 5.1 from the sources (Netflix, DVD) and no dts, and nothing come out from rear and sub. No wifi problem from the sub or flex2i . I tried the radio and stereo mix, and there is sound from the flex2i rear. So no problem from wifi, the rear and sub ae connected. The whole set is in the HomeTheater Group from Bluesound.
I tried both the optical and HDMI output from the Feintech switch (and choose the correct input on BluOS), and nothing works. Only the soundbar is delivering sound. I'm pretty sure the Feintech is ok (i used passthrough settings, Dolby 5.1 settings...) . It seems the soundbar does not see Dolby input (no logo on the BluOS app) or don't manage them.
I sent a request to the support crew, with log files. No answer yet.
It's pretty crazy because we bought the rear flex 2i for Christmas and were thiniking it would work like a breeze, but it's really difficult!
Please help

Hi Cedric
Please connect your TV to the SOUNDBAR using optical out and abandon HDMI if your Panasonic TV does not support ARC. No signal changer with HDMI will work as these do not meet HDMI Certification and are ad-hoc; https://www.hdmi.org/spec/premiumcableSee this Help Centre Article to program your remote; https://support1.bluesound.com/hc/en-us/articles/206809498
If problems persist using Optical out, contact Panasonic and see what you need to do on your TV to have DOLBY out of Optical.

Ok just call me stupid: I finally found the problem: the Feintech was not delivering from the HDMI audio output.
BUT foremost : I finally find a way to make it work through the ARC output of my old plasma (and the optical too): I think I just forgot to put the stereo surround option in the settings on the BluOS. Stupid I am!
Now the DD 5.1 is working fine. Not HD I think but regular one is OK.
You can close the ticket. Like we said: RTFM! ;)
