Looking for a NAS that supports gapless playback
AnsweredHello,
First post here.
I have just ordered a NAD C658 DAC. It will be certified into my home Crestron system to send music to multiple speakers.
I have a large lossless music library (FLAC, ALAC, DSD) stored on a Synology DS411+. The Synology just died. I need to buy a new NAS.
I understand the NAD C658 and its BluOS will support gapless playback (ideal for live albums). My old Synology did not support gapless playback. I just submitted a Support Ticket to Synology and they responded confirming they still do not support gapless playback outside of a web browser.
I will not be using a web browser. The flow of music files will go:
NAS > NAD C658 DAC BluOS > Crestron Home Stereo Swamp > Speakers
Might someone be able to suggest a NAS that will support gapless playback within this routing architecture?
Thank you,
MB

Hi Mike.
Blueos is buffering your queued files so basically all music from local/network shares are played gapless.
Synology DS Audio are not able to play gapless outside a web browser, but since your Bluesound equipment are using the share and not the media server, there will be no issue playing gapless from "whatever" brand of NAS you choose. -
Hi Bjorn,
Thank you very much for your answer.

Hi Mike
I have a Synology NAS drive and have no issues with gapless playback. For reference mine is a DS115J with a 2TB Seagate HD installed.
