NAS is often preferred. :-)
Quick and reliable. Sleep mode adjustable in most instances.
Note:If you are powering off equipment that's not "ment" to be powered off, you'll probably get a "shorter" life-span. Shorter life-span means buying new equipmet....and that's not environmentally friendly.0 -
Bjørn: interesting point on lifespan but not sure that'd be the case. Warm stuff has a shorter life.. But so does stuff changing temp frequently so you may be right.
Re: NAS. Clearly many like that, especially if also streaming video. But goodness - far cheaper for a multi-TB usb drive - even SSD. So even a thousand CDs leave room to spare.
But point is, I like a simple SSD & powering off nightly for several reasons. And very sensible for that config to be much better supported.
