    Hi Sylvain

Thanks for your feedback. Our good friends at NAD Electronics are very aware of the situation and have spoken with ROON about their certification process regarding NAD BluOS Enabled products with a detailed front panel display.

NAD is confident the NAD M10 and C658 will be certified before then and no foreseeable hurdles with the NAD M33 or newer products entering the certification process and will continue a great relationship with ROON Labs.

  • SylvainP

i will believe it when the certification will be done. The C658 is been on market for 2 years and people are still wating for Roon certification. I have mine for almost a year now and i'm not very happy about NAD support to fix bugs and other stuff.

And now the Roon certification war again.

Why does it take so long for NAD to fix their product (bug free) and have the Roon certification.

i really think NAD should post a blog on their website to inform their customers they are working on a fix for the Roon certification for their products. C658, M10 and M33

They advertised alot on their blogs on new release, new products, new prize awards, but what about making their customer happy who spend good amount of money on their audio products and give some information on the status of the process for Roon certification.

    HI Sylvain

As mentioned, NAD Electronics is working very closely with ROON and have confirmed there will be no issues with your NAD M10 and C658 being certified by then.

The NAD M33 is just entering the certification process but neither organisation sees any larger hurdles in having this or the T778 being certified close after if not before the date mentioned.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

    Hi Tony,

I have a NAD Ci580 4 zone network player which is certified by Roon. It doesnt work with Roon though. Playback begins and almost straight away stops and wont resume. Oddly enough i have a C658 too and that works fine with Roon even though its not formally certified! It appears Roon are aware of the problem but no solution as yet.

Also i cant get IR remote working on the Ci580 despite contacting support many weeks ago, they got back to me at last a few days ago with an excerpt from the manual that i had not only already tried but had advised them of such! I will keep trying.

Today in an effort to get Roon through the Ci580 i have connected a chromecast auido to the optical input streaming roon to the NAD's optical input. This required several reboots as for some reason Bluos would not show the optical input but after several attempts its now working. Seems odd that a cheap wireless solution works when a costly cabled solution wont! Hopefully it will be sorted out soon.

    Mr. Davies

This sounds like a networking issue, as most audio dropouts are. Change the network cable on the CI580. If that doesn't help - Please select the CI580 in the App then select Help, Send Support Request so we may have a closer look at the network throughput to it.

    Hi Tony,

Thanks for getting back to me. Changing the network cable will be challenging at this time. However it was installed and tested only a few weeks ago. It is worth noting that Bluesound itself works happily (audio wise at least) it is only Roon that has the problem. I will send the support request shortly, hopefully that will help.

ROON decodes everything at their CORE Server then transmits raw PCM - this is a lot of packets rather than letting the end Players decode the original files. This increases my suspicion it is networking related.

This being the case why would the Roon endpoints (apart from Ci580) be mostly stable? What steps would you suggest to troubleshoot the network?

    Hello al,

Some post dated over 3 months ago mentions there are no "large hurdles" for speedy Roon certification of the NAD M33. I bought the M33 in good faith and I'm extremely disappointed. I spent a considerable amount of money for a high-end streaming amplifier severely handicapped by Airplay if I want to use Roon.

    This is a disgrace.

    Hi Marc

Thanks for your continued patience - we continue to work with ROON to ensure The NAD M33 (Stereophile Magazine's Product of the Year for 2020) to be incorporated, like all other BluOS Players as a ROON Endpoint. Please continue to work with ROON regarding when they will complete the certification process.

Other than that, our good friends at NAD Electronics think you will be very pleased with the playback and sonic performance of their new flagship amplifier.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

    Hi Tony,

I remain confused why the Ci580 has difficulties (ie: doesnt work at all) with networking and packets etc, when my C658 and Node 2 work fine. They are all part of the same ecosystem (BluOS) on the same network and subject to the same issues. Yet they work properly and the Ci580 does not.

    Hi,

Also still no Roon certification of the NAD T778. Still have to use Airplay or NVIDIA Shield.

    WINTER IS COMING!

I just setup my new NAD T778 and realized it is not Roon Certified. This is a bit disconcerting for a $3,000 device. My Node 2i is certified so I see no reason why the T778 is not. Can we get some answers please?

    Hi Vondy

As mentioned above, ROON will be happy to provide those time lines for you. Thanks for understanding.

My Ci580 is Roon certified. There is a Roon tab in the BLuOS app.

Cant play ANY Roon content to ANY zone.

Bought this for multiroom system for MQA and Roon, i can get mqa via Tidal but no Roon library access via Roon.

Roon have been 'working' on this for some time with no result. I have over £6000 invested in NAD BLuOS product and its broken. BLuOS refer me to Roon...

So Roon certification is no guarantee of good performance or in my case ANY performance at all!

    Tony,

You mention about waiting on Roon refers to the M33, not the T778. Maybe you mean both of them but I'd like to know for sure before I go to Roon complaining.

    Thanks

    Hi Vondoy

This applies to any and all products that run BluOS but are coming up as uncertified in ROON. Thanks for understanding.

  • Vondy

So products that come up but say "uncertified" are waiting on Roon at that point then. Thanks Tony!

It is my understanding after spending months on threads like this that Roon Labs test, then ask the manufacturer (and associated parties of the equipment like Bluesound) to work with them to correct any issues found (the essence of a partnership).

It would be unfair to point at Roon as the sole responsible party for certification, just as it would be unfair to point at BlueSound or NAD for the same.

Unfortunately for the paying customers, no visibility is being given by any of the participating partners or associated parties in this process, so for all I know my NAD M33 will never be certified, despite the non-working Roon option in the BluOS Controller.

    Hello Tony,

Do you have an estimation date about when you will get the certification if any ?

I'm waiting since October to buy a NAD product, if the Roon certification is not coming soon I will find an alternative somewhere else.

Today I saw, all mention of Roon has been removed from NAD website, is it a bad sign ?

Hi Tony, I'm keeping my hopes up if only because I already bought the M33 in October 2020. I basically posted what I wrote above on the NAD Facebook page and got the following reply:

"Hello Marc, We understand that some of our users use Roon in concert with our products, and so we are working with Roon to ensure all BluOS Enabled devices meet the certification requirements. For further assistance please contact our NAD Support Team."

Apart from the Roon certification missing I'm extremely happy with the M33 I must say.

    Hi Marc

As mentioned previously - we anxiously wait for ROON to certify the M33 and T778 as quickly as possible as all other BluOS Products are certified. Please continue to let ROON know you are anxious to have ALL outstanding BluOS Products certified.

Or feel free to use the BluOS App for all your BluOS Products.

    Hi Tony,

I understand everything is filled for ROON certification by BluOS/NAD. We are waiting for ROON to certify?:

    Hi there,

We wanted to thank you for submitting an application to be granted developer access for your uncertified Roon Ready device.

While reviewing your application, we noticed that your uncertified device didn't ping our cloud certification check before September 21. Because of this, we're not able to grant you developer access.

But don't forget, this doesn't mean you can't use your device with Roon. If your device supports Airplay or has Chromecast built-in, you can still stream to it wirelessly using Roon. And if it has a USB or other digital input, you can always plug it in directly to your Roon Core.

Finally, please make sure to let the manufacturer of your device know that you'd like it to be Roon Ready! There's no better way to use Roon than with a certified Roon Ready device, and developer access isn't meant to be a substitution for certification.

    Thank you again!

Long time(OMG, nearly 35yrs!) NAD CUSTOMER. Finally got into streaming a few years back, Bluesound if course, and ROON. Then my T785 started to show its age so decided to upgrade to T778. I considered the Anthem but the BLuOS capability and Bluesound/NAD'S relationship WITH ROON tipped the balance. And now I'm starting to seriously regret my decision. Sorry Tony but the BLuOS app is functional but in no way a replacement for ROON.
I've posted on BOTH companies support pages and I'm getting a variation of the old hardware vs software battles, something that ends up looking suspiciously like passing the buck. Unfortunately it's us the customer who are our bucks go by and don't get our moneys worth from either one.
I wonder how much a lightly used, otherwise amazing AVR goes for?

Bottom line for me is that I have an old NAD 765 Home Theater, and would readily buy a NAD M33 today if NAD and Roon would get their act together and take whatever actions necessary to certify the NAD M33 as Roon Ready.  Frankly, I am sick of waiting, and will likely purchase a streaming amp elsewhere.  NAD:  if the ball is still in your court to make the necessary changes required by ROON certification testing, then realize you are losing business by every minute you delay.

Robert, i would not rely on Roon certification if i was you. My Ci580 was Roon certified for some time when i bought it and still is. Does not work on Roon at all, never has. Roon will refer you to Bluesound and Bluesound will refer you to Roon,, its a merry go round but not a merry one....

  • Sylvain Duchaine

Robert, I wish I was in your shoes, I would have gotten an Anthem 740, and bought a Bluesound node, or continued using my Chromecast Audio as I was with my old AVR.
The ROON/Bluesound compatibility I thought I'd be getting with the T778 was the deciding factor. And sorry Tony, the Bluesound App is functional, but far from great.
So I know what I'd be doing if I were you. Unless you want to buy a used, misleading product for at a discount🙄

Hi Antknee Williamson...I will also check in with Roon but figured I'd ask from you side if there has been any updates since a month ago as to when the BlueOS for the NAD M33 certification is estimated to be completed? Many thanks!
    Best,
    Eric

And while you're at it Tony W., Can you update those of us with a T778? Roon still says the ball is in your court. Come on, play ball.

    Hi all,

There was some good news posted on one of the Roon community discussions
"Hopefully, the M33 will soon be certified by Roon and be supported in the next BluOS release 3.14.X in April 2021."

Nevertheless I'm not at all convinced the NAD/BlueSound teams are able to communicate truthfully as I got this response on a support case:
“…I am sorry to hear about your concerns. We do apologise for the inconvenience that your NAD M33 was de-certified and has yet to be re-certified by ROON Labs. We continue to work with ROON as best we can and do see them as a valuable partner…”

As a matter of fact, the M33 was never formally certified by Roon (certified NAD products show-up here) and as such stating that the M33 was de-certified is a lie as far as my information goes.

I'm keeping my hopes up that the NAD / BlueSound engineering teams will sort things out with Roon and solve this once and for all in April.
