Connected via coax
AnsweredI decided to connect my Node2 via digital connection to my HarmanKardon amp. I have to use the CD input to handle the signal. What signal does BN delivers to the amp? Is the BN DAC bypassed to let the amps DAC convert the signal to analog?
To me that seems impossible as the BN delivers a digital signal. Asking as I don't have a clue myself but would like to know how everything works and to get a good setup.
If I set the BN to fixed volume the signal gets very weak, so I have to use the volume control on the BN to get a good listening volume. When playing via analog the volume works okey even when set as fixed.

Hello Conny,
Connecting the Node to your amp over Coax, the Node sends a digital signal to your amp, and then your amp uses its built-in DAC (digital-to-analog converter) to convert that signal. In this way, the internal DAC of the Node is bypassed and the DAC of your amp is used instead.
Setting the volume to Fixed on the Node means the Node will no longer control the volume, and all volume control must be done through the connected amp.
If you find that using the Node's Analog connection (uses the internal DAC of the Node) with your amp sounds better, then I would recommend going with the Analog setup. For the most part, choosing between Coax vs Analog depends on how it sounds to you personally.
