Shuffle play
AnsweredI often choose a song then touch the shuffle icon. Almost every time I do so it chooses $43.50 by Richmond Fontaine. It can often put that tune into the playlist several times, the most I have counted is 11 times now! I like the tune but....
Is this something that a fix of some sort by engineers will stop it happening?

Hello David,
Before I pass this on, I would like to gather a few more details:
Is $43.50 a song stored in your local library, or are you playing from a music service (if so, which?)
Is this with Autofill Enabled?
Is it the same song each time, or is it the same song but remastered or in a different quality or with different metadata in any way?

It is one copy of the song from my library. I have done my own research. The dollar sign is used in programs as a random when writing. So the sigil is seen by your algorhithm as a random. When I select $43.50 as a start to a playlist I get entirely random tracks with no repeats of that particular track. I noticed that 007 Shanty Town was often selected along with $43.50 and 4:48 Psychosis multiple times too. I hope that I have the right take on this. Does that make sense?

Hello David,
I ran some tests based on what you've provided but don't get the same results as you -- in one test I went ahead and changed the name of one of my songs to $43.50 and placed it at the start of a playlist, but the playlist played in order and I didn't experience any other .
Potentially you could still be on the right track that something in the metadata is causing this behavior, though it doesn't seem to be the dollar sign alone. Just as a test, remove the dollar sign from $43.50 metadata and see if this randomization still occurs.
