Lip-sync issue – request for low-delay mode to watch videos
Lips of actors and audio is clearly out of sync while watching videos on Powernode 2i and Node 2i. We have tried both minimum "Lip-sync delay" with "A/V mode on" and "A/V mode off", in the second case delay became even worse.
I tried to use "audio bypass" mode and all possible "A/V sync adjustment" values on my TV, it doesn't fix the lip-sync issue.
Your products are having HDMI interface onboard and is clearly intended for use with TVs, but lip-sync issue is ruining the experience.
In my case only thing that changed and causing delay is Powernode 2i, in fact it's the only thing in my audio chain: TV ARC -> Powernode 2i -> Focal 806 (speakers).
A/V mode description states: "Enabling A/V mode helps with real-time audio (such as TV synchronization) ... Disabling A/V mode prefers quality over speed and is best for audio-only sources"
So when A/V mode is enabled, speed preferred over quality, but artificial delay with 50ms minimum is added.
To deal with lip-sync problem we requesting to have interface-wise low-delay mode with speed preferred over quality without artificial delays. It is ok if groups will be disabled or some other restrictions will apply for this mode.
