what is it exactly?

I've only just heard of BluOS and am still trying to understand what exactly it is?

1. Is it hi-res audio app like Roon, Audirvana JRiver Media Centre etc?

2. Does it work with any network speakers or just a specific brand?

Apologies in advance for such a basic question. I'm confused. Initially thought it was a straightforward app after reading on Roon forum pages someone complaining that Roon does not do what BluOS does. Then I read from this website that it can also work with Roon!

  Hello Brian, 

  BluOS is a firmware that runs on Bluesound players. This firmware allows the player to stream hi res audio from sources such as Tidal or Amazon HD.

  The BluOS Controller app is used to control these Bluesound players. 

  

  Select Bluesound players are an endpoint for Roon and can thusly be controlled via Roon as well.
