My setup is as follows:
- Powernode 2i connected to onkyo passive speakers
- 2 x Pulse flex 2i
- Home theatre group from the PowerNode connected to the TV
(Issue happens with both optical and ARC connections)
TV is LG C9 New as of this week.
If I play from a source that outputs dolby surround (Disney+ or Plex for example), an intermittent crackle and drop in sound will happen randomly and continuously. It sounds like an electric crackle coming from the onkyo speakers and sounds really bad for the drivers. It will happen wether or not a film is playing or paused. The output source only has to be active in the bluesound app ("source on play").
Note: the crackle never happened before from the onkyo with a previous onkyo amp. Crackle also happens solely when the source is dolby surround.
I tried several combinations of sound out settings in the TV but it either stops playing in surround (and I lose the pulse flex players) or it produces the crackle on the powernode speakers. The tv has several available options on the ARC and Optical outputs. Digital audio can be set to the following: auto, passthrough or PCM and eArc can be turned on or off.
I have found no combinations that doesn't produce the intermittent pop while playing in surround.
Surround sound works, I hear the white noise during home theater group setup and I was able to test during a movie from disney+(dolby atmos). The dolby digital icon appears on the bluos app on my phone.
The kit is brand new, I received it this week but in view of these troubles I'm considering returning it before my 30 days expire.
