Manually Add a Player IP or Domain
AnsweredHello, I had requested a similar feature a while back, but thought I'd pose again as it's come up a few more times with recent installations. Please consider adding support for manually adding a player by its IP address or domain. The reason is this would allow for the device(s) running the BluOS app to be on a different VLAN from the player. Right now the device with the BluOS app has to be on the same VLAN which is generally not considered a best practice for premium installations and this would be solved with the ability to manually add the player within the app.

Thanks for the feedback - unfortunately this isn't a Bluesound issue as much as it is an IoT issue. Many multicast-based Smart products rely on mDNS or Zero Configuration, which do not route beyond current sub-nets thus do not play well in VLAN situations.

Do the professional players also use multicast?

All BluOS Players regardless of brand require multicast traffic to communicate with The BluOS App
