Shoddily constructed TosLink port on Node 2i (hinged door broke off!)
AnsweredI tried to connect a new (Monoprice) TosLink cable between the Node 2i and a Schitt Yggdrasil DAC today, and was confounded when I couldn't insert either of the cable's TosLink connectors into the port on the back of the Node. It wouldn't "take." Weird.
I then tried inserting the same connector into the TosLink ports of a few other digital components I have. No problem. Huh.
So I used a flashlight and a magnifier to took a closer look at the Node's TosLink port. What I found one was that the thin plastic door that covers the port, and that is supposed to fold away on a tiny hinge when you insert a connector, had crumbled into two or three pieces. Of course they ended up inside the port. After disconnecting the Node from power, I managed to gently pry them out with a tiny screwdriver. The plug still wouldn't fit, so I very gingerly poked around some more, and found the metal hinge/spring rattling around in the same space. After I'd removed that, the TosLink plug could be inserted. Now everything works, although the connection is physically "looser" than I'd like.
If it matters, my Node 2i is about 3 weeks old. :-(
Been using TosLink cables and inputs for over 20 years. Never had this problem before.

Now I have exactly the sam problem. Trapdoor broken while normal cable connection. Bluesound Node 2i used 2 years - maybe 3-4 times cable was connected/disconnected. I'm electronic engineer so as a minimum would like to know where to buy toslink connector (type/link- as there are hundreds of them). I will manage to change it. I dont know how long I have to wait for service it in Poland (do you provide service here or it will be send for long weeks somewhere abroad?)

It looked simple only... Noone have the Toslink Transmitter made by SolteamOpto JST1226. So or "what we find in the shop" repair or nothing. Can you send me the part that EXACTLY fits to the streamer? There is no single supplier (Farnell, TME, others) who offer this Toslink socket. Taiwan producer will not send me one piece.
