Utilizing Vault 2i backed up flac files elsewhere

I'm researching this product for purchase and would like to know if the back-up to an external hard drive are simply the flac files that may be read and used by other equipment.  Or are the files protected or proprietary to Bluesound hardware only?  Can any other piece of equipment access the flac files from the external hard drive I back up to?

  Hello Tdad33,

  If you are creating a backup of the Vault 2i through the BluOS app, this will mirror the contents of the Vault and format the connected hard drive to EXT4 which would only allow you to access the contents of the backup from a Linux computer.

  However, if you would like to transfer the contents of your Vault 2i to other devices, you can do so by accessing the internal storage of your Vault from a computer on your network and manually transferring your ripped FLAC content over to your other devices. I will provide an article below with steps on accessing the Vault's hard drive.
