Digital output of Node 2i with Spotify connect
AnsweredDear Bluesound team,
I'm considering buying the Node 2i, but first like to understand how it works with Spotify connect (or any other digital streaming service).
From what I read online, the Spotify connect stream is compressed with 320 kbps with a 16 bit / 44.1 or 48 kHz source (depending on source).
At what bitrate and samplerate is this input from the internet send out of the digital outputs of the Node 2i?
I assume the compressed internet file is first uncompressed to a raw PCM file(?) What's the next step? Is it up-sampled to the max 24 bit 192kHz or just passed along at the source bit & sample rate to coax and optical outputs?
Thank you very much for a reply!
Cheers,
Hessel

HI Hessel
When working with our Music Service partners, we provide the highest quality available within their service. In Spotify's case, 320Kbps lossy compression.
Though Bluesound can Play 24/192 loss (And does with HiRes Services such as TIDAL, Amazon UltraHD and Qobuz to name a few), we do not upsample as upsampling can, in fact, create its own distortion.
