I'd like to understand better how Flex 2i works ...

HI,

 

I have 2 Flex 2i connected on my network.

All feature are enabled:

- Both Flex 2i are connected on my Wi-Fi system

- Also Bluetooh is configured and both are paired on my Desktop (win10pro)

- I connected one Fle2i with Optical cable to my Desktop

- I paired these two Flex 2i in a Stereo Gorup

- I enable the Flex2i to use Digital input keaving the possibility to use also bluetooth connection

The questions are:

- I test to disable the bkuetooth just to be sure that the optical input works correctly. But in this case, what kind of protocol the primary flex (withthe optical cable) is using to pair with the other one? WI-FI?

- If I use the headphone output on the flex 2i connected with the optical cable what happen? I mean, the flex using the optical cable, the internal dac, and then the signal exit to the headphone? What happen if I connect the headphone on the other flex 2i (the flex that is paired in a stereo group)

- I would like to connect the flex 2i to ethernet port directly on my desktop (because I have two ethernet port available) ... so without using a router/switch .. i suppose I need to use a ethernet cross cable. Correct? In this case could I have some benefict in terms of quality of sound/connection?

 

I'h have more other questions but these are the most important, currently, for me.

  Regardless of the source or how they are grouped, Bluesound players communicate with each other using your home networking TCP/IP Protocols.

  Keep it simple. If you can run a cable, always run a cable. Connect your laptop using the wired line in if you can as there will be far less interference or problems.

  If you are using the headphone output of your laptop, you are using Analogue in. In which case your signal is converted to 24/96 digital and then back to analogue.

  Thanks a lot for the answers, but two elements still unknown -)

  1) If I connect the players directly to the ethernet ports present on motherboard's desktop (without using external router/switch) I assume that i need to use a ethernet cross cable (not the standard ethernet cable normally used to connect to a router/switch). OK, I can test myself but I'd like to have your answers.

  2) In case I use ethernet connection (you said should be better) I suppose I have to disable some WI-FI configuration using App or is it automatic or is there are default preferences?

  3) Why, connecting a headphone to the rear player port I cannot earn music?

  1) No - standard network cables connected to the router or switch, the same you would use for a laptop

  2) No - If a wired connection is used, wireless is automatically disabled - it's an either/or situation

  3) If you are using the headphone jack the external speakers are disabled for yours (and others) privacy
