Mini2i and Turntable: low volume
AnsweredHello,
I just got my mini 2i, I like a lot how it plays with Tidal. However I hooked my turntable to the line-in, it's a Rega Planar 1 Plus (with integrated phono preamp) and noticed the volume is really low, definitely not comparable with what I get with Tidal, I was prepared from something lower but... not that lower!
Has anyone of you guys had a similar issue?
The preamp has a 40 db gain, that looks fair to me, I've seen around other brands offering bundles with active speakers and 34 db gain preamp turntables.
Am I missing something?

Hi Marco
It would be in the output of the turntable. Check your documentation to see if there is a gain setting on the turntable you can boost - that or ensure the cartridge is installed properly. Perhaps you would need a higher mV rating on the cartridge. Check and see what Rega has to say.

Hi Tony,
thanks for your answer, unfortunately there isn't any setting I can tune on the turntable: the Carbon cartridge that comes with it has an output of 2.5mV at 1kHz. Is it too low? Is there any recommended mV rating to play with mini 2i?
Thanks!

Hi Marco
I can't answer that because it depends on the phone pre-stage and how many volts they supply to the gain which is in the turntable itself. That is a question for Rega I am afraid.
