    Hi Bruce

We are escalating your request for a closer look - we will be in touch.

I have exactly the same problem. Is there a solution?

Are you able to read the Advanced Diagnostics from the Help/Settings screen. Check if your Amplifier has entered Protect mode.
I was able to fix this myself but its not a fix Bluesound or I would recommend and will definitely invalidate your warranty. It required me to replace a component on the DDFA board.

    Thanks for your help!

Syslog is too long to paste here....

You are looking for a line in the log section of the diagnostic log called "user.emerg sovi_hal: Protect=Yes1"
That is what told me that I had an issue with my DDFA board.

My unit is working again after a factory reset, but the balance is wrong - music is playing much louder on the right channel.

I can’t find the line you mentioned in the syslog.

What part did you replace and how?

If your music is now playing, you don't have the same issue I had and your amp/psu have cooled down or reset. So enjoy.
In my case, nothing would resolve the blinking red light but that was because I had an electronic component failure on the DDFA board. The recommend solution is to send the unit in for a repair.

I have a PowerNode that developed this problem back in January of this year but I didn't get too far with Bluesound diagnosing it.  I was asked for a "proof of purchase" in order to do troubleshooting, and I didn't have ready access to a receipt although I am the original purchaser of the product from the factory.  The blinking red light is persistent however, and although the PowerNode will accept firmware updates it doesn't play any music.  Since it sounds like the fix wasn't too bad I can probably attempt it on my own.  I have a modest electronics background and know how to use a soldering iron.

Bruce - prompted by your mention of the line "user.emerg sovi_hal: Protect=Yes1" in the diagnostic log I reviewed my log and found the same log message.  If you are still participating in the forum, can you give me some pointers?

    A) I'll have to tear into my PowerNode to fix this; can you tell me how to avoid any cabinet damage when I open up the PowerNode?

    B) Can you tell me what component(s) you had to replace on the DDFA board?

    Hi Mark

I have escalated your request to our Support Crew - they will be in touch as we do not want you causing more damage to your POWERNODE - they will be happy to point you in the right direction for options.

I've provided some information to Bluesound regarding my player to see what my options are from their perspective.  It would be nice to have my player operating again.

    Hi

I seem to have the issue with my node 1 as Bruce Miranda. Anyone know what component was the issue?

The symptoms beside the red flashing I suspect was for a period of time a whining coil on the ddfa board. It has now stopped whining, but the flashing is still there and hence no sound.

Yes I have dismantled my node, there's no warranty anyway and I'm used to fixing my equipment, however this one is a little tricky for the moment.

Hope somebody can contribute with help or information. Thanks.

    Mik

Look for capacitors on the DDFA board that are bloated. This is ofcourse assuming you have already checked the power supply board and determined that it is OK.

Bruce Miranda - I've noticed two capacitors on the ddfa board, one in each side that seem leaked. Square in shape. 334j100 it says on them. I've only looked in one power node (have two in same condition). if you could pm me on my mail? mikpossible at gmail.com.

Tony W. Thanks for answer. I wrote node 1, it is a power node n150. If they could give me a service manual that would be great. I guess it would not be possible. What is the price of a new ddfa board? As I have two broken power nodes I'm affraid it will be too expensive. From a sustainable point of you it's a shame, they break down like that, from failure of a component.

    Bruce,

Thanks for the pointer; I'm out of warranty and the factory repair options aren't cost effective, so I'll be happy to tear into mine myself. I would like to get a little more lifetime out of my equipment.  I have had some other products that failed due to capacitors; I believe I read a while ago that some component suppliers had produced large batches of capacitors with quality issues and many electronics manufacturers were affected.

    Cheers,

    Mark
