Wired (Only) Network Planning

Hello - Planning a new Bluesound System and abandon my Airport Express / Airplay setup.  Would purchase a NAD BlueOS Receiver for my main listening area and NODE2i for a Whole House Zoned Receiver.

We do not generally use WiFi in the Home, and like the BlueSound System due to its Wired Functionality.  If I fail to offer WiFi in the Home, do I lose all functionality of 'Control' by way of an iPhone and/or iPad - or is Bluetooth an option?  Might there be any others?

  Hello Timothy,

  Although BluOS players can use both a wired or wireless connection, the devices you are using to control your players will have to be connected to the same network. This means if you are solely using wired connections for all devices in your home, you would only be able to control your BluOS players through a device wired to your home network such as a desktop computer.

  Without a wireless connection for your iPhone or iPad, these devices will be unable to connect to your home network and in turn will not be able to communicate with your BluOS players. With that being said, by providing a wired connection to your players and allowing your router to distributor a wireless network for your phone and tablet, you should have no issue controlling your players through these devices.
