Recent player upgrades and loss of groupings
AnsweredHi All,
Has anyone else had this?
After the recent flurry of player upgrades my players lose their grouping. 'Group player has failed. Choose this player to discard the group' appears every day now. I have had to discard the group up to three times a day and then disconnect from power and reboot each player. I have ALL my players on ethernet connections. All are on Cat 5e connections throughout the house. I did this because the players disconnected when on WiFi! That experience has returned! I have had the system for under a year, a very fraught year.
My BT Smart Hub 2 Router was 'blamed' so I went ethernet to cut out that equation.
It was immediately after the upgrades that my players began to disconnect. Cause and effect: they were all happy before the upgrades. Has anyone else had this?
I was also told that players on battery (I know I cannot use a battery on ethernet) blocked the WiFi signals and the battery player was designed for Bluetooth music only as the battery blocked the WiFi signals!
I now have a 'fixed' system as opposed to the £1400 system that I could take anywhere, any place, any time as the gin ads had it. I am not happy. Sonos here we come.......?

Hello David,
I can see you currently have a request open with our support crew for this specific issue. Please continue to work with Kyle and we will do what we can to provide you with a solution as soon as possible.Regards,

Hi David,
I have similar issues after the update to version 3.6.5 and update to 3.6.6 didn't solve it either.
Question, if you use a USB drive does your grouping fail then? In my case it works with a USB drive or when playing internet radio.
But when using a network share it will crash after a couple of hours playing.
Regards,
Eddy

Please post any solutions here on the forum. What is the point of a "community" if every answer is hidden in your ticket system somewhere?

Hi Oskar
Network issues should be troubleshot using www.bluesound.com/network101 - if issues persist, we have to, unfortunately, troubleshoot beyond that individually as each network environment is unique.
Thanks for understanding.

Hi David,
The issue in my case was playing music from a NAS share, then the grouping failed after a while, streaming from other sources didn't had any issue.
I have had good contact with the support department, we even had a remote session, extended logging etc. It took a while but then they finaly did a down grade to a previous version as with that my system was stable, without any adjustments.
After the downgrade my system was stable again, which ment that there was a bug in the software. Bluesound was able to replicate the issue and they could solve it as well.
FYI.
