    Hi Jaap

Great question. Bluesound Players have a hardware warranty (which varies based on your region of purchase and local laws) generally between 1 and 2 years.

Software and firmware wise, we provide free technical support via support@bluesound.com or pressing Help, Send Support Request in the App to all regardless of date of purchase.

Yesterday we released BluOS 3.6.2 which includes Google Assistant and the new (to us) classical music service Idagio. Though some features such as Bluetooth or AirPlay have hardware requirements and are not available on some older models, this upgrade, including Google Assistant and Idagio, will work on the original Bluesound Node that first went on sale in December of 2012 just as well as a brand new PULSE FLEX 2i.

Our current development of BluOS will include the original 2012 line up on our current road map. We currently have no plans to deprecate support on the original 2012 line up.

    Thanks for #LivingHiFi

That works both ways though. If they put out a new generation of players and make software updates to bluOS you might loose functionality.

For example when Airplay2 was finally released, all previous generations lost the ability to play music stored on Apple devices. (ipad / iPhone) the feature was completely removed and all tickets to complain were closed as solved.

As you might imagine it is highly infuriating to have one of your favourite advertised features removed with no option to avoid the “upgrade”. My family and I regret our purchases, and this type of “support” means we won’t buy any Bluesound hardware until they fix this approach to customer service.

Thank you Jacob for your feed back. That is good to know. I had a similar experience with Denon, when they removed Spotify support.

Funny you mention that, Spotify is pretty much the only thing I can use right now, as the last update messed up playing from NAS and even USB storage lol (which was the “workaround” tech support gave me for losing the ability to play from my devices).

But as tech support has told me repeatedly in the past... It has Bluetooth ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ !!!

For streaming you also want to make sure your wifi signal is strong in the location you plan to use the device. Especially for the high nitrate stuff.

    The hardware is good.
