    Hello Kiran,

With the updated Powernode 2i with HDMI there was a small improvement to the DAC as well. The new chipset being used in this model is a Texas Instruments TI 5242. The new model does also allow for Dolby Digital content to be decoded to 2 channel stereo.

As for if this Dolby decoding will be available in the previous model, I can not say for certain. However I will forward your feedback to our Quality Assurance team for their consideration to see if they can include this feature in a future firmware update.

    Regards,
    Wesley P.

    Hello Wesley,

I got the powernode 2i hdmi version to compare to my 2i without hdmi and found the sound quality to be quite an improvement. The soundstage definitely feels larger with more detail and resolution. It definitely seems like there were more improvements done to the dac section than a simple swap of the DAC chip. The difference is not subtle. I would appreciate it if you could share some insight in to what exactly has changed here since I feel it’s a worthwhile upgrade from the 2i.

    Hi Wesley,

Is there any plan/timeline to bring this new features (HDMI ARC, TI 5242) also to the Node 2i and/or the Vault 2i?

    Best regards, Frank
