Digital volume control using coaxial output
AnsweredI have a node 2i and am keen to use it as a source with some Genelec 8341s. I would like to bypass the DAC using the coaxial out and an coaxial to aes/ebu transformer. Will I still be able to use the digital volume control in this configuration?

Hi,
I have noticed a problem with the new Node (N130) while using the coaxial output to Genelecs. The digital signal works occasionally well but many times it loses the connection and the sound "jumps" between the left and right speaker. I have tried this with several different Nodes and Genelec speakers. I have connected the coaxial through a 75->110 ohm AES/EBU-converter to the speakers. This was never an issue with the older versions of the Node (2 and 2i).
Is this a known issue and might this be a software or hardware related?

Connecting thru coaxial means you are using external DAC. You need to go to settings-Audio and disable MQA external DAC. This should solve your issue.

The MQA external DAC option is greyed out and disabled because the output level is in variable mode. The problem looks to appear while using the HDMI ARC-input.
