Amazon Echo as a speaker?
AnsweredI'm not seeing anything that says you can't, so I figure I would verify by asking:
Is it possible to play music through an Amazon Echo device using the Node 2i as the music source? I'd like to be able to listen to the FLACs on my USB drive connected to the Node 2i in a room that doesn't have a Node but does have an Amazon Echo.
From what I'm seeing, I don't think it will work but I would love it if I was wrong in what I'm reading. Is it possible this could be added as a feature in the future?

Hello David,
Unfortunately at this time there is no way to send the content from your Node 2i directly to your Amazon Echo over your network.Since the Node 2i is not close enough to your Amazon Echo to directly connect with a 3.5mm connection, the only alternative I can suggest would be to connect your Amazon Echo as "Bluetooth Headphones" in the BluOS app from your Node 2i. By doing this you will disable the connected outputs of your Node 2i and only have the audio from your Node 2i play to your Amazon Echo over Bluetooth.

I can not say for certain if BluOS would be able to send audio directly to Amazon Echo in a future firmware update but I will pass this feedback along to our Quality Assurance team to investigate further. In the meantime I hope this work around helps!

Thank you, Wesley. That is the workaround I've employed. One of our Echos is the portable Tap. So what you described is exactly what we do and then we carry it around with us.
Obviously not ideal, but it suffices!
Thank you for your response and thank you for forwarding this to your Quality team to see if it is feasible.

Would LOVE to use echoes as the post suggests. Of course sound nowhere near quality of a pulse etc but nice to integrate them to play through house even where quality not so critical or space more important. (Eg have a pulse in the kitchen, hifi direct connect to node in lounge, but echo in bathroom)
