Reindex in progress

I have not reindexed my collection in months. I recently added some new file so I decided to reindex. When I went to bed it had completed somewhere around 70,000 of approximately 150,000 files. This morning it still says Reindex in progress but there is no completed file count at the top of the screen. How long do I wait before restarting the controller?
