Is the Vault 2i compatible with Linux?
AnsweredMy wife and I are getting ready to order a Vault 2i as the first BlueSound component in what will eventually be a multi-room home sound system. We have a home network that has both wi-fi and wired Ethernet to the place where the Vault 2i will be. We use Linux (Mint Cinnamon 18.1 to be exact) for our home computing needs, and run Android phones.
Is the Vault 2i compatible with Linux? By compatible I would mean can it access shared files on Linux machines on the same network, and also act as NAS storage for Linux machines?
We already have a Western Digital MyBookLiveDuo NAS device, which we would like to use to back up the Vault 2i. Do you foresee any problems?
Thanks!

Hello Rand,
I'm happy to hear you are interested in the Vault 2i! The sharing protocol used by Bluesound devices to establish network shares is SMB. Although SMB is a Windows sharing protocol, if you can configure your Linux computer to be compatible with SMB sharing you should be able to share this library with your Vault 2i.We have several customers we have seen with Western Digital NAS drives which they successfully use with their BluOS system so your current NAS drive should have no trouble connecting to your players.
