    Hi Peter,

Set the tag 'ALBUMARTIST' as "Various Artists" and name the specific artists track by track under the tag 'ARTIST'.

When a track has more than one artist, use the 'ARTIST' tag separate for each artist.

    Succes, Frans

Thank you. I did what you said then in SETTINGS I re-indexed my collection.

Then I looked under Genre, Christmas and under ALBUMS there was my Chris Isaak album and 15 Verve Presents: The Very Best of Christmas Jazz albums, all with 1 song. Is the Filename itself giving me this problem?

My work process for an album with various artists is:

put all tracks of the album in one folder

right click this folder and select MP3Tag

    Then MP3 Tag opens

Select all the files in the right pane

Make sure that in the left pane the following tags are identical: Album, Albumartist (which should be "Various Artists" in this case), Year and Genre.

After that you can enter track title and artist for each track.

After re-indexing, this should group all in one album.

Sorry, this is exactly what I do. They are in one folder, and I follow the process as you describe.

There are two levels of re-indexing. Normally you need to use Rebuild Index for existing music.

Dan, of course I run Rebuild Index after any changes. That would be very basic. I still get the multiple albums with 1 song.

Are those definitely all the tags in the files, including in separate tags? (Sometimes there are multiple tags per file, e.g. ID3v1 and ID3v2.x tags).

Also note there's a final method for re-indexing in the link above.

    Hi all,

I have exactly the same problem as Peter Schattmann has.....

I tried every indication and all possible solutions presented in this post, but still the same problem remains.

Does anyone have a proper and convenient solution to solve this odd problem?

Thanks a lot for your answers.

    Hi Filea

    • Clear any and all tags regarding the artist except ARTIST and AARTIST.
    • In the Artist Tag ARTIST - enter the performer information
    • In the Album Artist Tag AARTIST - enter the primary act releasing the album or Various Artists - where you expect to find the album when searching by Artist in the App
    • Ensure the Album tag ALBUM matches across all tracks or songs
    • Ensure all files are in the same folder
    • iTunes legacy versions had a proprietary use to have a logic tag (T/F checkbox) labelled COMPILATIONS - get rid of that tag
    • Save everything.
    • You should only have to perform a Re-index Music from Settings, Music Library but if you like, lets error on the side of caution and perform a full recreation of the Index from Help, Diagnostics Rebuild Index.

If problems persist after that, there's always Help, Send Support Request where we will ask for a sample of one or two incorrect files and let you know what stray tag is still throwing things off.

Yesterday I tryed HIGHRESAUDIO and downloaded the sample album with my Vault2i. That worked and the files are now on my Vault2i. But after reindexing I got 7 different entrys in album. So I checked with MP3Tag if the albumartist is set different and changed them to Various Artists.

    But they are still separated.

Are there any other tags needed? the year and genre are different, because they should be. But album artist and album name are the same. Btw. of coure the files are in the same folder, like downloaded by the internal HIGHRESAUDIO app.

OK problem was that the files were already indexed and I had to delete the index and make a completly fresh index after changing the metadata. So only the albumartist and same albumname seem to be neccessary but it needed a fresh index.

Well done! Refreshing the index is a common source of issues and there are a few levels of performing the refresh/re-index. See https://www.blisshq.com/music-library-management-blog/2018/02/14/maildump-bluesound/

To add to my work process above, I only keep the following tags: AlbumArtist, Artist, Album, Track, Title, Discnumber, Disctotal, Tracktotal, Year, Genre, Style, Source, Composer and erase all the rest. That might have solved Peter's problems.

@Tony: you mention AARTIST as leading tag for the artist. In MP3Tag this is called ALBUMARTIST. Is this the same?
