Airplay 2 bitrate support?
AnsweredI am trying to find specs for Airplay 2 bitrate support? Meaning - If I have a 96 kHz / 24 bit music file that is being played over Airplay 2, will it be transmitted in full glory, or be compressed?
I'm asking because I'm looking at picking up a Node 2i to be a DAC to my headphone amp.
Thanks in advance!

Hello Jeff,
Airplay itself streams in lossless ALAC 16/44.1 even if you are playing a higher bitrate from your original source. This means if you are playing 24/96 audio from your Node 2i, Airplay will compress it to 16/44.1 before sending it over your network. Unfortunately this is a limitation of Airplay and not the Node 2i so there is no way for us to make any changes to avoid this compression in a future update.

Thank you. That's what I was afraid of, although I couldn't be certain.
