    All outputs are hot simultaneously

You can connect to two amps at once.

Just to clarify, all of the outputs on the Node 2i can put out 192/24 signals?  Here's how I'd like to set mine up:

Analog RCA output from the Node 2i to my preamp input 'A'.  This would be for playing Tidal MQA files, since the Node 2i DAC is the only MQA-capable one I have.

Digital coax from the Node 2i to my dedicated DAC, for playing my locally-stored FLAC files, including some 192kHz/24-bit content.  Then the dedicated DAC would connect to my preamp input 'B'.

The idea is that if I'm listening to Tidal MQA content, I'd switch to input 'A' on the preamp, and hear the MQA-processed signal from the Node's analog RCA output.  If I'm listening to my local FLAC files, I'd select input 'B' on my preamp and hear signals that have passed unprocessed through the Node's digital coax connection (hopefully at up to 192/24) and then gone on to my DAC to be converted before being sent to the preamp.

And one last question as a side note - if I like the DAC in the Node 2i well enough, can I just ditch my dedicated DAC entirely and process locally-stored 192/24 FLAC files through the Node's internal DAC and just use the Node's analog RCA output for everything?

    Thanks!

    Hello Scott,

Although the digital outputs of the Node 2i are limited to 96/24 for MQA content, this does not affect non-MQA content such as your local FLAC content. FLAC content played from your local library can output up to 192/24 from either digital or RCA outputs of the Node 2i.

With that being said, if you chose to remove your dedicated DAC and have all audio processed through the Node's internal DAC and output through RCA, this should not cause any issues.

    Regards,
    Wesley P.

That makes perfect sense - thank you!
