Upgrading a QNAP TS-251 for good Roon and Blouesound performace
AnsweredI got a QNAP TS-251 (2 GB RAM) with +60K songs (half FLAC) and one Node and two Flex. I tried to install Roon but it was too slow. Roon recommended QNAP TS-473 and 4GB of RAM. They also recommended to install an SSD with the TS-473.
Anyone knows if there is a way around that? Can I upgrade my existing TS-251? To say 8GB RAM and a reasonable SSD? Also read about SONORE computer audio (expensive though...)

I have a Qnap TS-259 in my office for the past 7 years. It's a little loud but have never had performance issues with regards to speed using BluOS in it's native environment.
I'd check your Qnap documentation to ensure all is installed properly. Maybe look and see if you can bridge the network connectors to increase throughput...

Hi Tony, I am not familiar with the TS-259 but I guess it is a bit more powerful than the TS-251 I have.
I am not clear if you are running Roon on yours though, which is my intention to do, without spending too much money in upgrading the hardware.
