Rebuild Index Now Does Not Appear as a Choice Just Reindex Music Collection With My PC
AnsweredThere was an update I received this past Sunday...had not used the system for awhile. Said it was a "player" update. Just added a couple CD's to my Vault 2 using my Windows PC and when I went to Settings, Library I noticed that the Rebuild Index is not an "option" anymore..all I can see is Reindex Music Collection (to be used when recently adding new music to the system). I do remember that the Rebuild Index is only supposed to be used (please correct me if I an wrong) after a lot of new music has been added over a period of time and it rebuilds the index from scratch getting..how to say it...all the "ducks" in a row. LOL
My questions is this the only choice now that I can see is Reindex Music Collection is this how it is supposed to be or did something go wrong with the update?
thanks

Hi Gregory
You shouldn't have to reindex when ripping CDs. It will happen auto-magically as we like to say. You also probably are Rebuilding an Index when you really only had to Reindex the collection (which is faster); https://support.bluos.net/hc/en-us/articles/360021741493-We-ve-Made-Indexing-Easier

So the Rebuild Index is not available anymore because it is not needed? So from now on I can only use tthe ReIndex Music Collection option and everything should be OK?
Just curious what did the Rebuild Index command do compared to the Reindex Music Collection before?
thanks

The Rebuild handles external Album Artwork which can only be updated on existing files when initially creating the Index

I'm observing the same thing. I have moved and removed some folders in my NAS attached network shares... will the auto-magic now remove those from my library?
I've had several cases in the last day or two where the player said a file was not found, which led me to try to rebuild my index. If the magic is working, I wonder if it is also cleaning up playlists which may have references to missing files and folders?0
