Does anyone know the read/write speed specs for the Vault 2 drive?
AnsweredI thought I would try posting this here, although it might properly be put in another thread.
I am wondering why the transfer speed from my PC to my Vault 2 is so slow. I have a hard-wired Cat 5e home network, with a PC and router both capable of 1G speeds, but transfers from my PC to the Vault 2 inevitably end up about 12-15 MB/s.
That seems fairly slow to me, and I am wondering if the Vault's write speed might be a bottleneck.
Or I may be totally incorrect and 15 MB/s could be blazing fast.

Well you are definitely connecting faster than 100BaseT as you have surpassed 10 MB/s which is the 'top theoretical speed' (in a vaccuum as my high school physics teacher use to say...). The problem with theoretical speeds is they are just that.
You will get packet collisions, you will have attenuation. Your router is also monitoring other traffic. In other words, 'should' it go faster, possibly in theory but in actual real world tests this is about what you are going to get. The drive write speed isn't your bottle neck. and you will transfer about 35-40GB/hour.
The good news is this is only a 1 time transfer generally speaking so I don't think there is anything unusual here.

The dual-core ARM processor should be able to do full giga bit speed or at least 60-80 MB/s, it is your network implementation that sucks, I had a node 2i and a vault 2 and they produced so many overrruns and rx errors that I ended up returning your products.
And all your support guys can say is; Please change your cables........and then they close the case
