    Hi Jared

Sorry, it can't be done. The volume controls are not mutually exclusive.

I have passed it along for future consideration but I do remember having a conversation with engineering some time back, prior to even the development of Gen2 and there is a reason we can't (or at least shouldn't) do it but for the life of me can't remember what it was.

I have a similar request, except for the Optical configured as an input on the Node 2i. My optical source has its own volume control, so even if the setting isn't officially "fixed" with some sort of volume control bypass perhaps we could have a different volume level for the optical input. In my case I would be set to 100 and never change... effectively making it fixed.

For all of the advanced capabilities of the Bluesound system I have a hard time believing this is not possible.

    Hi Travis

It's not possible - we cannot control what the volume of a source on the input is.

What we recommend you do (as this is common for consumers to plug a TV into a PULSE MINI or POWERNODE) is set the volume of the optical source to 100% and if it has external speakers (such as a TV) disable those speakers then use BluOS to control the volume.

Thanks for your quick response. I did not assume you would control an upstream device via some sort of fancy technical voodoo. More simply put I was asking if my Node could operate with separate volume controls for itself depending on the input. So the Node can have fixed or 100 volume when the optical input is in use, but can be variable when streaming directly. Does that help clarify?

Set the input to 100% and then use the volume control on the NODE to control volume on all sources, including Optical Input...

If the Optical Input source is at 100% then the node is at say 10%, you will get 10% of the maximum volume of 100%... if the NODE is then at 50%, you get 50% of 100%... I hope I explained that well as Math is hard...

Okay okay. It is a feature request, not a work around request. Is there anything about my request that is not clear?

I agree with Travis. I have a source with its own volume control (that I want to control directly - or rather that my wife controls directly) plugged in to the optical input. If I could set it so that specific source was always fixed 100% volume while everything else was variable by default that would be excellent. I have to remember to crank it back to 100 when switching to optical in.

I have the same request! Please!

Same request! I use the analogue input with an AVR output which is calibrated based on the other surround speakers in my setup. Now In have to manually adjust the volume every time.. first world problem, but I guess the node 2i also is a first world product..?

    HI Hessel

Use a preset and in your preset set the volume to 100% when programming it. That being said, be warned when selecting other sources...
