    Hi Christoforos

In Stand By mode, the NODE 2i is still active on the network and responding to IR ready to jump on at a moment's notice. In this mode it will use just under 3.5W wireless or just under 3W wired according to our tests. Depending on ventilation, this will be warm to the touch in the range of about 25-30C.

The DAC is however inactive and other processing is shut down consuming less than half the power it normally does.

(The VAULT HDD will also spin down. The POWERNODE and PULSE lineup will also power down the Amplifier, the largest single consumption of energy).

    hey Tony,

thx for your response and explanation. I don´t want to sound too bothering but it still feels a bit off.

the device is constantly really warm and the LED lights are always ON ( heat = energy, if you guys measured it to be 3W; most certainly that is correct) I own lots of Apple devices who all have stand by-ready to jump on on touch function - none of them are warm.

it´s just my humble opinion that the "stand by" function could be improved - even if it is "only" 3W - there is no need - I don´t mind waiting one or two secs until the device is ON but having a stand by function that consumes 0,2 -0,5 W and all lights turned of - settings to control HOW the device goes into standby would be nice.

    best

Mine doesnt seem to go to standby either, after ca 2 h its still on ca 8 W. I have a DMM plugged in on mA AC. However not warm at all, just a bite luke on the PSU side.

Edit. It had an easy explanation, it was not set to shut go to standby. Fixed now on 15 min. However, I dont remember ever fiddling with that before now.

Well it did not help to set the sleep timer to 15 minutes. It starts the countdown in the app but power consumption is the same after countdown is done. I guess there is a bug.

I have found out how to put it  in standby mode, if you hold the play button down for about 15 sec will it enter standby mode.

And all diods will be off after a short time, to wake it upp just push play and it turns on again.

That's an amazing find Anders... I just tried it and it 100% works... no more annoying crappy network activity red diode light flashing on and off insistently. It didn't even take the full 15 seconds... mine was about 5 seconds.

Thank you sharing that very helpful tip.

    Regards,
    Anthony
