Alexa integration?
AnsweredHello,
I been using the new Alexa skill since it was release a week ago and have a few questions. I won’t go into the voice related problems since I assume that you guys are working on solving them. Now for my problems:
1. I can’t include my BlueOS devices in Alexa routines since they don’t show up as a device or scene.
2. I can’ set my BlueOS devices as prefered speakers in a Alexa room. I’m talking about the built in functionality in Alexa not the default player voice command in your Blue Voice implementation.
Will these features be implemented in the near future? As is the skill is basically useless since you can’t use it for any of the Alexa built-in functions.
If you need ideas how to implement your Alexa integration I suggest looking at Sonos, Bose and Heos since they all have these basic features. They are in no way perfect especially when it comes to sound quality BUT at least they followed Amazons recommendations.

Hi Henrik
1) We are a skill. Routines are limited to Alexa Voice Services devices (such as the ones you mentioned - note Alexa is only available in their newer models). Here is hoping Amazon opens up the API to allow that in the future.
2) You can group but you need to login to Alexa on each Player you want to use Alexa with... check out www.bluos.net/voice-skills for a primer on how The BluOS Voice Skill works.

Alexa recently announced that routines can include skills (https://developer.amazon.com/blogs/alexa/post/cf65c68e-f3df-475e-939d-4ea2771b20b7/tell-your-customers-they-can-now-invoke-your-skill-from-routines)
But I could not get it work, e.g., I could not play a present from an alexa routine.

Hi Stephan
What appears to be going wrong would appear to be an Alexa issue. Troubleshoot your routine...
Sorry I couldn't be of more help...

BlueOS needs to do better if it wants to beat Sonos at this. Doing a minimum basic Alexa Voice Skill doesnt cut it anymore in 2020

please Bluesound, improve your inferfaces and other ways to support your cient. hardware is great, but make it a little nices to use Bluesound. For example with a better Alexa functionality, and please make it avalable in other countries, even when just supporting English...
Thanks

The lack of support and integration with voice commands makes Bluesound systems outdated. It's very frustrating to have bought and spent so much money on a system that lacks in even the most basic integration capabilities. Chromecast - not there. Alexa integration - unusable.
Sad. Very sad.

Today I recognized that the BlueVoice Alexa Skill is now available in Germany.

No comment on the qualitiy of the integration, the first tryes were not really promising :)
First I needed to release all players from Apple HomeKit, before some worked some not. But this was recognizeable if you choose "Amazon Alexa" in the music services section and you don't get a dropdown menu for changing the room name, there is something wrong. Relasing all players from Apple HomeKit gave me this back.
It's pretty hard to talk "Sag Blue Voice ..." would be great if something here will improve, but hey now I can try it before I was not able to, so lets see what works and what not.

Yeah very sad that after 4 years from this post, the device is still very much a skill in alexa, and i need to say so many words with so much more chance of the system hearing my voice wrong. For a non native speaker it might even be more difficult…
alexa say blu voice to play sam smith on spotify in the living room
but also not being an alexa device makes it difficult to speak over existing music. Alexa cannot lower the volume while I try to skip track…
I got a POWERNODE thinking it had alexa integration but i was mistaken…
