    Hi Gabriele

    Due to licensing and distribution agreements, warranties generally are not transferable over International Borders. 

    You can try speaking with a local Seven Oaks Sound and Vision in the UK but you really do need to speak with our German Distribution Team via your original dealer to find a solution.

    The issue you are seeing is not software related but may have to do with your power supply failing and not restarting the player. It is not upgrade related but happened to occur during the upgrade.

    Such thick-headedness is does not give a good impression to your customers.

    Thank you for your reply. I understand, but as far as I am aware, in the European Union warranty are totally transferable from a EU country to another one. In the same way, a product purchased in a EU country should be able to get repaired in another EU country.

    Thank you for suggesting the local dealer Seven Oaks Sound and VisionSeven, I'll get in touch with them. In the meantime do not hesitate to share with me alternative solutions to get my Node repaired here in UK.

    Unfortunately, the issue does not seem related to the power supply as the led on the node is stuck in red, so the unit is well supplied.

    I keep you updated with the reply fromSeven Oaks Sound once I get it.

  • 99% that this is a power supply fault. I had several such players. Swollen capacitor. At the same time, there is enough current for the LED, but not enough to start the processor. You just need to replace the capacitor.

    Thank you, I am trying to get in touch with them. I keep you updated. I was expecting a charge as the product is no longer under warranty.

    Thank you, Dennis. Replacing the capacitor should be a very easy fix. Hopefully this is the case for my unit as well. As I do not see an easy way to open the device, so I would anyway prefer a professional doing it.

    So what was the failure and the solution?

    I'm sitting here with the exact same issue. The device is in protect mode (redlight) and a high pitched sound is present.

    Hello Mik,

    Sorry, I forgot to update this discussion. I finally followed Tony's suggestion to speak with Seven Oaks Vision. They repaired the device for around 70£, I do not remember the exact amount. They offered a very professional service.

    As Dennis was suggesting the problem concerned the power supply. I cannot be sure that the issue was a swollen capacitor, but most probably since the reduced cost of the fix (I mainly paid the expedition and the labor).

    Now my Node 2 is happily working again.

    Thank you for your response. I've decided to look at it myself and I found a small coil and something that looks like diode and it was burned marked.

    It was not the main power supply but on the dac/power amp board.

    As it's smd components I think I can't fix it, it's too small and I don't know the value of the components.

    Maybe I should write the seven oak vision. Do they have a website?
