    Hi Ron

For full MQA, please use the analogue outs of the NODE 2i and bypass the DAC all together. You can use the DAC via digital out but will be limited in your MQA output to only a single unfold.

Analogue out to the DAC in doesn't make much sense since the output has already been decoded.

Thanks, but your option 1 is a non-starter since my DAC is also my pre-amp and therefore the connection to my power amps and that's the way it has to stay.  Digital out from the Node 2i would only do half the unfolding - I get that. But it would still produce 24/96 output, correct?  Which I suspect is more than good enough.

Analogue out from the Node 2i into my DAC's analogue inputs (it's a Benchmark DAC3) would also work and I know I would have the advantage of full MQA decoding, but only on MQA content, and even then, I am seriously doubting whether the analogue output of a £300 device is a match for the £2,000 DAC3 ?  And on non-MQA content, the DAC3 will be miles better.

Hence me being interested in the Node2i digital out at 24/96 to the Benchmark DAC3

    Hi Ron

Up to 24/96 - it depends on the MQA content...

...you may be surprised at the on board DAC's performance but of course, we will let your ears decide.
